Wildfire CFD Simulation in Augmented Reality

Due to climate change, Wildfire events are becoming rather frequent and extremely dangerous for the population.

Smart Technologies & Numerical Analysis can substantially support Prevention and Environmental Protection by predicting critical scenarios in advance.
This work shows the workflow to visualize a time dependent CFD simulation in Augmented Reality on a real urban park, located in Munich city centre, by combining accurate numerical analysis, GPS GEO-localization and local-SLAM algorithms.

When fire simulations are displayed in AR on-site in the real environment, one can directly see the extension of the fire, distances between fire and populated areas, track smoke and pollutants to directly observe and virtually verify the implemented solutions. Direct, immersive AR experience has proven to be the most efficient way to experiment solutions and train people to react in dangerous scenarios.
hhpberlin aims to actively contribute, promote and support the use of Smart Technologies applied to prevention and analysis of critical and dangerous scenarios.

Fire & Smoke CFD Analysis in Augmented Reality on real Buildings

Augmented Reality and accurate numerical simulations help both visualizing multiple dangerous scenarios and investigating all possible solutions directly on-site.
